Gratitude In Recovery (January 24, 2018)
Studies have shown that the practice of daily gratitude can be a powerful force of change in recovery from both substance use and mental illness. Take a second today to practice simple gratitude. What are you thankful for?
Some days might be harder than others.
“The Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelius famously said that our lives are what our thoughts make them. In other words, by simply changing the way we think and our focus, we can change our lives.”
Ask yourself three simple questions every day:
1) What’s great about my life today?
2) How can I serve others today?
3) Where would I be if I wasn’t clean/sober or stable in my mental health recovery?
